Motion for confirmatory referendum got more votes than any other option - and more than PM’s deal - but still short of a majority.

These “soft” options have a lot in common but also important differences. Neither is deliverable and both are worse than staying in EU.

After PM caved into pressure from ministers, chance of crashing out on March 29 is slim. But any delay needs a good reason.

PM is right about one thing: delay on its own won’t achieve anything. It needs to be for a purpose - and best reason is to ask the people.
