Petition: Tell Twitter to stop helping the Tories cheat: remove CCHQ’s checkmark

The Conservative Party press office pretended to be an independent fact-checker on Twitter during last night’s TV debate between Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn.

The CCHQ press office has a “verified badge” that “lets people know that an account of public interest is authentic”; that it is what it says it is. CCHQ kept their badge while pretending to be fact-checkers.

This is political disinformation. Stern words aren’t good enough. Tell Twitter to teach the Tories that actions have consequences: remove CCHQ’s checkmark.
